About Green Gables

Between February 1st and February 29th, Green Gables will be open to the public on Saturdays. If you visit between 10am and 2pm, you can enjoy a tour of the historic home.

The residence was built in 1896 on about one and a half acres of greenery. Positioned along the Indian River, the landscape is just as breathtaking as the home itself. The home is only of three Queen Anne styles home, which makes it a treasure to those who love architecture.

When you visit Green Gables, you can do more than learn about the home’s history. You also get to learn about the history of Melbourne as a city. But like all historical buildings, Green Gables is at risk. The building needs to qualify for a special grant, so money must be raised to preserve the site. When you attend the tour, your donation will go towards the site’s preservation.
