Who Has the Best Chowder in Melbourne, FL?

There’s nothing like a great chowder. But you can never know what to expect when you order one. To save you the trouble of being disappointed, the 33rd Annual Chowder Cook-Off tested chowder from many local establishments. Although the cook-off took place in February 2018, it’s recent enough to guide you to the best chowder in the Space Coast.

About the Cook-Off

At the cook-off, there were several judges. The Vice Commander of the 45th Space Wing, the Port Commissioner, and a renowned food writer were all on-site to taste the chowders. They spent approximately two hours trying all of the different chowders.

There were several categories for the winning chowders. First, there was the people’s choice twist. These chowders were unique but delicious. The winner of that category was the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex. Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill came in second.

The second category was the people’s choice chowder. Once again, the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex came in first place. This time, Coconuts on the Beach came in second place.

The third category was the judge’s choice twist. In this category, Coasters Taphouse came out on top. Mambo’s Beachside Bar & Grill ranked second. For the judge’s choice chowder, Kennedy Space Center ranked first. Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill was right behind in second place.

If you go by the cook-off results, the Kennedy Space Center seems to be one of the most popular options. But chances are, most Melbourne restaurants can make a decent chowder. Head to the city and try one for yourself. When you do, stay with us at the Melbourne All Suites Inn. Call now and reserve your room.
